What is the small habits approach?

The small habits approach involves making small but consistent changes to our daily behaviours. Holly Health supports individuals to prioritise, achieve, and sustain new healthy habits across a range of health and lifestyle areas, covering nutrition, relationship with food, sleep, mental wellbeing and movement. Importantly, the service provides personalised recommendations on which habits are likely to work best for you.

Why is the small habits approach better than other approaches?

Most of our overall health is defined by the tiny actions we take throughout each day, like what we eat and drink, when we go to bed, how long we sit down for, and how much exercise we get. Around 60% of our daily actions take place without us thinking (i.e. subconsciously). In order to improve our overall health over the long term, we need to address our subconscious habits.

However, many of us take an 'all at once' approach to health improvements, for example, going on a restrictive diet, or planning to go to the gym every day, as a new year's resolution. The problem with these intense approaches is they are rarely sustainable. Studies have shown again and again that the best way to make lasting changes to our health, is to make small, consistent changes, which can be kept up indefinitely. Holly Health makes this sustainable approach doable and way more fun!

Our staff should be able to come to work without fear of violence,
abuse or harassment from patients or their relatives.

We operate a Zero Tolerance Policy with regard to violence, abuse, harassment, threating language and unacceptable or unreasonable behaviour towards our staff.
The Practice has the right to remove patients with immediate effect, in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons.

Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.

All instances of actual physical abuse on any doctor or member of staff, by a patient or their relatives will be reported to the police as an assault.

With the developing trend of patient’s use of Social Media services to comment on the Practice and members of the team we would ask that if you have a complaint about our service you report this to the Practice Manager using our complaints procedures.

The practice always investigates and responds to any complaints made.

Ethical Social Networking
The Practice team never use social media to discuss individual patients or their care. We kindly ask that any issues or requests you have are brought to the attention of the Practice Manager, rather than Social Media since it is likely your concerns will not be addressed.

Note that we reserve the right to remove a patient from the surgery list and report them to their social networking service if they are found to have made libellous statements or defamatory comments about the surgery or a member of the practice team.

The legal definition of defamation is:
"any intentionally false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person’s reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person."

Thank you to everyone who took time to complete our survey back in January.

We received lots of feedback from you all which we have went over and reviewed.

This included lots of words of encouragement and points which you feel need addressed by us.

We know that online surveys are not the best for everyone.
Unfortunately at the time this was our main option of collecting results in such a large number.
We aim to address this in the future.

For your information we have included the results of the survey below.
Click here to view the results of the Patient Experience Survey - Jan 23

Copies of our survey results are also available for viewing at our reception.

We would like to ask if you are attending the Practice to please continue wear a face mask (unless previously exempt).

This is in line with government guidance which states:
Any individual visiting or attending an acute adult hospital, community hospitals and primary care premises, are strongly recommended to wear a face covering.

We thank you for continuing to do so as this will continue to help prevent spread to any vulnerable or ill patients who are visiting.

For more information please see https://bit.ly/39nfdIM

From the 1st of April 2022 if you require assistance regarding coronavirus or think you have coronavirus please contact NHS24 on 111

The practice are pleased to announce that we are starting the move to a fully digital future.

This will mean where possible that you will begin to see more contact from us via text messages, emails and other forms of digital correspondence and less paper through your door.

Digital correspondence is faster, more secure and also good for the environment.

Most methods of digital correspondence allow for two way communication which means you will also be able to send information to us also without a visit to the practice.

We are presently looking at ways in which digital correspondence can improve your patient experience and we will always ensure that your information and any communication is kept secure and private.

We will always inform you of changes to how we communicate with you but we would like to give you the opportunity at this time to opt-out of being included in our vision for the future.

If you do not wish to be included in any new digital correspondence please contact us or inform your Receptionist to be excluded, please note that we will check with you regularly in case you have changed your mind.
